Hildegard of Bingen was one of the most remarkable women of the Middle Ages - an Abbess and woman of God, a visionary, naturalist, playwright, mystic, political moralist and composer. Born in 1098, she was beset by the most extraordinary religious visions from the age of eight - visions which she wrote down, painted, dramatized, and set to music. Yet, despite this outpouring of religious creativity, her visions were called into question, and she was put on trial by the Church in 1148. This is the story of events leading up to that trial, and the trial itself.

Affirming Congregations: Three Stories
Creating inclusive communities and embracing diversity, regardless of sexual orientation, is vital to the life and work of Affirm congregations and ministries. Here are three stories of United Church congregations who have made the choice to be Affirming Congregations. One story comes from Saint John, New Brunswick, one from Edmonton, Alberta, and the other comes from Vancouver, British Columbia.
This compelling 3-part DVD tells the stories of three congregations:
-Queen Square Centenary in St. John, NB
-Southminster-Steinhauer in Edmonton, AB
-Trinity in Vancouver, BC
Each took the difficult and courageous steps to become a congregation that openly welcomes gay, lesbian, and transgendered people. And each was changed and revitalized in the process.
We Were Children
As young children, Lyna and Glen were taken from their homes and placed in church-run boarding schools. The trauma of this experience was made worse by years of untold physical, sexual and emotional abuse, the effects of which persist in the adult lives. In this emotional film, the profound impact of the Canadian government's residential school system is conveyed unflinchingly through the eyes of two children who were forced to face hardships beyond their years. We Were Children gives voice to a national tragedy and demonstrates the incredible resilience of the human spirit.
